Art in the Garden​

Art in the Garden is a long-standing Prairie tradition that celebrates the idea of recycling old materials to make new, beautiful art.

The event is held during school, but families are encouraged to come after school to walk through the garden, experience the art installations, and grab some popcorn or Kona Ice.

One of the most fun nights of the year, and one that every student looks forward to!

The Prairie Carnival is an all-school celebration that is hosted on school grounds and features a ton of games and activities for students to enjoy.

Special guest day

For Special Guest Day, students get to invite one guest of their choice to join them in their classroom to experience their daily life at Prairie, participate in a group activity, and enjoy lunch together.

Special Guest Day typically happens in the fall and overlaps the Book Fair.

Lace up your favorite tennis shoes for another student-favorite! Field day is an outdoor, all-day event where each grade has a chance to participate in many games and activities.

Field Day is hosted by the school in conjunction with PTA support and volunteers.

SteamNight-5

sTEAM night

STEAM Night moves students and families t o rooms throughout the school to participate in activities and listen to experts in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

This is a free event that takes place on an evening in the Spring.

Snowball2021-2

Snowball Project

Each year, Prairie Elementary partners with Operation Breakthrough to sponsor a family in need during the holiday season.

Before Thanksgiving Break, participating students select a "snowball" that contains a gift wish for one of the children of a sponsored family. Gifts are provided for the

SMAC Clothing Exchange

The Clothing Exchange offers gently used, clean clothing and shoes to those within the SMSD boundaries for free. Each year, Prairie PTA spends a day volunteering at the exchange.

Sock and Underwear Drive

An annual school-wide Sock and Underwear drive that benefits the SMAC Clothing Exchange.

Yes. We understand that not everyone is able to volunteer. We also understand that many parents still want to contribute. We’ve created a way for you to donate towards the PTA, which directly goes towards annual programming at Prairie. 

No. It takes every volunteer available throughout the year to host as many events and activities as we do. All parents/guardians are welcome to sign up!
