Cultural Arts Update

The Cultural Arts committee of the Prairie PTA is pleased to announce Bobbi Sharbutt will be joining Mrs Sloan next week to continue the popular “Artist In Residence” program for this year.  Ms. Sharbutt is a retired SMSD art teacher and will be working with students in 1st-6th grade on clay projects all next week during their normal art classes.  The theme for this year’s Artist in Residence is Monet in Clay.

Programs like the Artist in Residence are funded by PTA through the Cultural Arts committee to bring hands on experiences and enrichment learning to our children.  The 1st grade recently had a program on Tepees from Ernie Miller and the 2nd graders had Owls visit their classroom.  Other upcoming Cultural Arts grants include:

November 15th – The Recycling Show (in coordination with HIP Club) – grades 2-6

December 9th – Chinese Acrobats – all grades

April 23rd – The Magic of Science – all grades

If you would like to know more information about the Cultural Arts committee or to inquire on serving for the 2012-2013 school year please contact Heather Rubesch at [email protected].  As always your generous donations through support of our Prairie Pride 5K, Prairie Auction Night, etc. fund these unique opportunities for enrichment at our school.
