PTA Reflections Deadline Monday!

Don’t Forget…PTA Reflections Competition Entries are due to the office this MONDAY. Have fun creating!

Does your child enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Consider unleashing your child’s inner artist with the PTA Reflections Competition!

About PTA Reflections
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts in an educational way. Through the program, PTAs across the country urge students to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice, reflecting on a specific theme.

The theme this year is “Heroes Around Me,” which calls for your child’s own unique interpretation through the arts. Each entry will include an artist statement for the students to explain how their work relates to the theme.

The six mediums that students can create work in for the contest are: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. There is also a special artist division to provide all students with the opportunity to participate.

The October 15th deadline is just two days away! Students should submit their entries to the office at Prairie by 4pm. Click here for more details, rules, and entry information. Questions:

HUGE thanks to Madison Loughlin and Carrie Kiefer for all of their hard work in getting ready for a fun night at Prairie!

Prairie PTA Facebook page changing to a closed group. You’re invited!

Good evening!  In the interest of the continued safety of our students, the PTA has decided to discontinue the (public) PTA Facebook page and has created a closed (private) group.

We are working on uploading approved emails, but in the meantime, if you’d like to join, please request and we will approve all parents and guardians of current Prairie students.  We have shared the new page on the current PTA Facebook public page so you can easily find it.

Give us a few days to work out the kinks- we’re happy we are doing everything we can to keep our little Panthers safe.

(In case you are wondering, nothing happened, we just had conversations with other schools and learned this is how they are doing it!)

Chipotle- it’s what’s for dinner.

Zero need to cook dinner tonight.  Why you ask?  It’s Prairie spirit dining night at Chipotle in the Village from 5-9pm.

Be sure to mention Prairie.  Chipotle will donate 33% of the sales back to Prairie- this is a very generous donation.

If 100 Prairie families go and spend an average of $25, Prairie will earn $825!

After you grab dinner, head on over to the general PTA meeting in the library at 7pm.

New Prairie sign on Mission Road to be adjusted soon!

Why you ask?  Perhaps it was installed incorrectly and causes one to rubberneck to read it, instead of gently facing the direction of traffic.

Thankfully, Mrs. Jones noticed this right away and they are slated to come back and adjust it soon.

In the meantime, try not to cause any accidents as you  read about the upcoming 5K while driving 25mph down Mission.  Carry on, Prairie Panthers, carry on!

Class Auction Party Schedule

The Auction is Prairie’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it kicks off in the fall with individual grade-level parties. These parties are a great way to meet other parents in your student’s grade, and they help jump start the fundraising process. Save the date now, and start looking for sitters for your grade’s party! Be on the lookout for an e-vite from your grade’s host.

Crossing guard needed for Prairie! Who do you know?

Happy Monday!  We received this from All City Management Services, our crossing guard company.  They do have this position staffed, but would prefer a “friend of Prairie. ”

My name is Hilary Calvert and I am Area Supervisor with All City Management Services for Prairie Village, your crossing guard company. I am reaching out to you today to see if you could pass along information to your parents that we are and have been on the search for a crossing guard for your school. We would love to have a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle, neighbor, etc… to join our team and keep the kiddos safe. No worries, we do have your school staffed and set for the start of school but we always need alternative back-ups! Attached is a flyer for the Crossing Guard position. As you probably know the position would have the guard working a half hour in the morning and a half hour in the afternoon. The position pays for the full hour, both in the morning and afternoon, for a total of 2 hours a day, for $22 a day. I have attached a flyer. We appreciate your support and look forward to a great school year!

Warm regards-
Hilary Calvert
