MVP Program

MVP as classroom assistant
MVP as classroom assistant

The MVP program was initiated by SMSD in 2015 as a way to volunteer one-on-one with students.

There are two types of volunteer groups:

Tier I: Volunteers who have direct contact with students. These volunteers must complete an application (click here for the application), attend a short training session (click here for MVP training sessions), sign the standards of conduct and complete a fingerprint background screen. These volunteers include:

  • Classroom tutor
  • Mentor
  • Classroom assistant

Tier II: Volunteers who participate in one-time, group-supervised settings or non-student contact capacity. These volunteers DO NOT need to complete MVP training. These volunteers include:

  • Room parent
  • Library helper
  • Committee volunteer
  • Field trip chaperone
  • Classroom party volunteer
