2018 Fall Book Fair is Right Around the Corner!

Our fall book fair is right around the corner! The fair will be open on Thursday, November 8th from 7:45am – 4pm and Friday, November 9th from 7:45am – 4pm. Each year, our kids get so excited when they see the fair being set up in the gym. Every sale made during this fall book fair directly impacts Prairie as the fair is one of our biggest PTA fundraisers.

There are a few options for purchasing books at the book fair:

  • Each class has a designated time when they will visit the book fair with their teacher. They can purchase books during this time, create a wish list, or do both! You may send money with your student so they can shop the fair with their class. View the classroom book fair schedule below.
  • Every student will also have a chance to visit the fair with their special guest on Friday, November 8th.
  • Additionally, students may shop the book fair before and after school.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Moore at amooredunn@gmail.com.

Don’t Forget: Spirit Dining TONIGHT!

Ditch the grocery store shuffle after work tonight, stop by Papa Keno’s Westport instead. I mean, if you need a reason, it is for a great cause!

Simply drop your receipt in the “Dine & Donate” box in the front of the store for Prairie to get credit. Swing by on your way home, tell your friends & co-workers, or grab a pizza after practice to raise funds for the children!

State of the School- Thursday night at 6:30!

Are you interested in an update on Prairie students’ performance?  Have you ever wondered why you write some checks to the PTA and some to the Prairie Fund?  Do you know want to know more about what the supplemental counselor, math and reading specialists do?
If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, please join us on Thursday night for the 2nd Annual State of the School.  We’ll answer all these questions and more!
If you’d like to submit any questions beforehand, please email prairiefundsmsd@gmail.com.

PTA Reflections Deadline Monday!

Don’t Forget…PTA Reflections Competition Entries are due to the office this MONDAY. Have fun creating!

Does your child enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Consider unleashing your child’s inner artist with the PTA Reflections Competition!

About PTA Reflections
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts in an educational way. Through the program, PTAs across the country urge students to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice, reflecting on a specific theme.

The theme this year is “Heroes Around Me,” which calls for your child’s own unique interpretation through the arts. Each entry will include an artist statement for the students to explain how their work relates to the theme.

The six mediums that students can create work in for the contest are: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. There is also a special artist division to provide all students with the opportunity to participate.

The October 15th deadline is just two days away! Students should submit their entries to the office at Prairie by 4pm. Click here for more details, rules, and entry information. Questions: triciastephens13@gmail.com

Art in the Garden Tomorrow!

Here’s what you need to know for Art in the Garden tomorrow,
October 5th!
  • There will be 7 fun and creative art stations!
  • This beloved Prairie tradition will take place rain or shine (the gym makes for a good back up!)
  • Siblings are welcome to attend!  It’s a family event after all.
  • There will be free popcorn available from 3:10pm – 4pm.
  • This is a free event but PLEASE BRING CASH for food:  water bottles $1, hot dog/chips/drink $5, and the ever popular BAKE SALE!
HUGE thanks to Madison Loughlin and Carrie Kiefer for all of their hard work in getting ready for a fun night at Prairie!

Prairie PTA Facebook page changing to a closed group. You’re invited!

Good evening!  In the interest of the continued safety of our students, the PTA has decided to discontinue the (public) PTA Facebook page and has created a closed (private) group.

We are working on uploading approved emails, but in the meantime, if you’d like to join, please request and we will approve all parents and guardians of current Prairie students.  We have shared the new page on the current PTA Facebook public page so you can easily find it.

Give us a few days to work out the kinks- we’re happy we are doing everything we can to keep our little Panthers safe.

(In case you are wondering, nothing happened, we just had conversations with other schools and learned this is how they are doing it!)

Chipotle- it’s what’s for dinner.

Zero need to cook dinner tonight.  Why you ask?  It’s Prairie spirit dining night at Chipotle in the Village from 5-9pm.

Be sure to mention Prairie.  Chipotle will donate 33% of the sales back to Prairie- this is a very generous donation.

If 100 Prairie families go and spend an average of $25, Prairie will earn $825!

After you grab dinner, head on over to the general PTA meeting in the library at 7pm.

New Prairie sign on Mission Road to be adjusted soon!

Why you ask?  Perhaps it was installed incorrectly and causes one to rubberneck to read it, instead of gently facing the direction of traffic.

Thankfully, Mrs. Jones noticed this right away and they are slated to come back and adjust it soon.

In the meantime, try not to cause any accidents as you  read about the upcoming 5K while driving 25mph down Mission.  Carry on, Prairie Panthers, carry on!
